Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson tops Forbes’ list of highest-paid actors in 2020

Forbes has released its Highest-Paid Actors List for the year, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has found himself at the top for the second time in a row - so at least someone is having a good 2020.

The annual list, which noted The Rock took in an estimated $87.5 million in 2020, also pointed out that a large percentage of the 10 highest-paid actors had Netflix to thank for their generous earnings.

According to Forbes’ findings, The Rock made $23.5 million from Netflix for his role in the yet-to-be-released film, Red Notice. That trend holds true for all of the actors on the list, who earned a collective $545.5 million, with $140.5 million of that from the streaming service.

Coming in at the second highest-paid spot was Ryan Reynolds, with $71.5 million, and Mark Wahlberg was third on the list with earnings of $58 million.

Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, Akshay Kumar, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Will Smith, Adam Sandler and Jackie Chan rounded out the list, with earnings being estimated from June 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020.

The top ten richest actors on Forbes list are as follows:

  1. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson - $87.5 million

  2. Ryan Reynolds - $71.5 million

  3. Mark Wahlberg - $58 million

  4. Ben Affleck - $55 million

  5. Vin Diesel - $54 million

  6. Akshay Kumar - $48.5 million

  7. Lin-Manuel Miranda - $45.5 million

  8. Will Smith - $44.5 million

  9. Adam Sandler - $41 million

  10. Jackie Chan - $40 million

This isn’t The Rock’s first time at the top of the Forbes list. Last year, he was estimated to have earned $89.4 million, giving him a significant lead over the $76.4 million that Chris Hemsworth took in at the second spot.

But the 48-year-old is also bringing in the big bucks on Instagram, too. With 193 million followers (and counting), The Rock was dubbed the highest-earning celebrity on Hopper HQ’s Instagram Rich List earlier this year, beating out Kylie Jenner.

According to the social media scheduling platform, The Rock could be earning an additional $1 million for every sponsored post he shares.
