Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson sends message to Barry Keoghan after The Eternals trailer drops

The trailer for former Love/Hate star Barry Keoghan’s new movie The Eternals has finally dropped and fans were thrilled to see the Dubliner in full Marvel mode.

In the film, which is written and directed by Oscar Winner Chloé Zhao, he plays a member of group of super powerful Immortals who re-unite, after being in hiding for thousands of years, to protect Earth from the Deviants.

This is Keoghan’s biggest screen outing to date and sees him stars alongside a multitude of stars including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie.

Needless to say the 28-year-old Dubliner is excited and he shared the trailer with his 141,000 Instagram followers and one fan in particular was keen to offer their congratulations.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was among the first to slip into Barry’s comments saying: “Congrats brother! Looks huge!! Teremana is ready.”

Teremana is Johnson’s own brand of tequila.

Barry bounced back with: “Awh thank you brother can’t wait for you to see this one."

Leading the Rock to respond: “Nice glasses of Teremana to be had bro!”

It’s a far cry from their first meeting back in 2019 when Barry was completely starstruck.

They met at at Disney's 23 Expo in August 2019 when Barry’s casting in the Eternals was announced and in an interview with MTV a month later, he said that he lost the plot when meeting his idol and couldn't speak.

It was left to his girlfriend Shona Guerin to organise the meeting.

Barry recalled: "They set it up for me, you know. I asked, 'Can I meet The Rock?' And they said 'Yeah!’

"They say you shouldn't meet your heroes, and he was more than I expected. He was tired and ready to go, but he stood there with me and was willing to give me advice and I was the one who freaked out.”

Johnson confirmed this on Twitter in September 2019 saying: "Barry literally wouldn’t talk to me. Just kept walking in circles saying, 'no no no no no no no' But we finally got our pic and shared some kind words. Great dude and I’m rooting for his success! Cheers brother."

Eternals is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 5, 2021
