Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson reportedly blasted the “snowflake generation,” blaming them for society moving “backwards”.
According to the Daily Star he said: “So many good people fought for freedom and equality – but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.
“If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended and that is not what so many great men and women fought for.”
Johnson is said to have added that people can “be who they want” with the world having “progressed” over the last 30 years, but claimed the new generation is setting the world back.
“We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years,” he reportedly said. “People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want.
“That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.”
But Johnson has since denied taking a swipe at generation snowflake, claiming "the interview never happened".
"Settin' the record straight," he tweeted. "The interview never happened. Never said those words. 100% false. If I ever had an issue with someone, a group, community or a generation - I'd seek them out, create dialogue and do my best to understand them. Criticising ain't my style.I don't cast stones and we all get to be who we are."
He finished by adding the hashtags "boomers," "millies" and "TequilaGeneration".
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan faced a backlash on Thursday after he blasted celebrities for “jumping on the victimhood bandwagon” over mental health issues.
Morgan threw his support behind Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, who said she is concerned some celebs are making mental health “fashionable”.
Morgan referenced Johnson, who has previously opened up about his battle with depression, tweeting: “Sadly, I know a lot of well-known people (not The Rock) who’ve jumped on the ‘victimhood’ bandwagon to get positive publicity for themselves.
“They do those with genuine mental illness a great disservice.”
