Dwayne Haskins reflects on pre-draft memory of meeting Kobe Bryant

The sporting world at large was completely stunned on Sunday morning when it was shockingly announced that NBA legend Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif. He was 41-years-old and traveling to a youth basketball game with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, who also perished, along with seven others.

In the wake of the tragic news, athletes across the nation have shared their thoughts and stories on social media, remembering the legacy that Kobe left, and trying to describe the impact that he had on their lives. One of those players was Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who crossed paths with the Los Angeles Lakers’ legend while training for the NFL.

Bryant, who retired from the NBA in 2016, is survived by his wife, Vanessa, and three daughters, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri.
