Dwayne Haskins rebukes the idea that he can’t read NFL defenses

Washington’s rookie QB Dwayne Haskins doesn’t agree with the narrative that he is struggling to read NFL defenses so far in his first season out of college.

While he has only seen one game of live-action outside of the preseason due to a foot injury to QB Case Keenum, Haskins struggled mightily in that Week 4 game against the New York Giants, throwing three interceptions and zero touchdowns.

Since then, Haskins has been sent back to the bench and seen his head coach sent packing. The interim coach in Washington has come out and said that Haskins will take some time to develop in the backup role behind Keenum, but word out of practice this past week has shown that the rookie is developing nicely.

In his time at Ohio State, Haskins proved to be a dynamic pocket passer who possessed an adept ability to read opposing defenses, highlighted by his 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Though he hasn’t been a polished QB in the NFL thus far, what’s important is that the rookie believes he can get better, and he continues to show improvement.
