Dwayne Haskins rebukes rumor about Washington coaches not wanting to draft him

Some click-bait has recently surfaced in the media, claiming that Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins is at the center of a rift between the front office and coaching staff in Washington.

According to Joel Klatt, who spoke on the Rich Eisen Show, the Redskins coaching staff was never sold with drafting Haskins back in April, but the front office was very high on him coming out of Ohio State, and they decided to take him with the No. 15 pick. According to Klatt, the front office desperately wants Haskins to play in place of the current starter, Case Keenum, but the coaching staff doesn’t agree.

It looks like Haskins caught wind of this rumor, and he is calling it ‘Fake News.’

So far in his professional career, Haskins has appeared calm and collected, so it is no surprise that he would brush a story like this off. Even if the rumor were true, the rookie has nothing to benefit from getting worked up and trying to get into the game. It’s quite possible that the current staff, who is rumored to not want him, will be gone by season’s end anyway. So what does he care?

Earlier this week, Haskins told the media that he is not stressed about starting games soon, though he is seeing a number of rookie quarterbacks get time around him. In the end, he knows that his time will come, and he will be ready when called upon.
