Dwayne Haskins pens letter on first NFL Season, “In My Own Words.”

Jumping from a college quarterback star to an NFL starter under center isn’t easy, even for the fifteenth overall draft pick in the first round of an NFL draft. There are new offenses to learn, a different set of players and coaches to get acclimated to, and a brand new culture in a professional league that has the best players in the world trying to take your head off.

Former Ohio State and current Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins found that out the hard way. Despite one record-setting season at Ohio State that ended with him being a Heisman Finalist in 2018, the transition to the NFL wasn’t easy.

Far from it.

Haskins penned a letter on Redskins.com that takes readers through his journey of being drafted, to the competition for winning the starting quarterback job, to a backup role, and then to eventual starter. There were some tough lessons and frustrating moments along the way.

If you haven’t read it, it’s well worth the time. Haskins goes inside his situation, showing graciousness, humbleness, and determination through his first full season in the NFL. We won’t spoil it for you, but you can definitely see the mindset of a young man that seems to have it all together and will work hard to be the face of a franchise.

So, take the time and read the below story from Haskins himself and then root hard for him to make that next step we all expect from him this upcoming NFL season.
