Dwayne Haskins officially inks four-year deal with Redskins

The Washington Redskins have officially inked former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback and first-round draft pick Dwayne Haskins.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is done. The Redskins have signed the No. 15 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. It’s a four-year deal with a fifth-year option according to Schefter.

Haskins declared for the draft after a record-breaking season at Ohio State under the guidance of Ryan Day. In his sophomore year last year, he tallied fifty touchdowns, a Big Ten record, to just eight interceptions. He was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and was the benefactor of an all-expenses paid trip to New York as a Heisman Finalist.

However, despite his elite-level Big Ten record single-season numbers, Haskins was the third quarterback taken in the draft. He was selected after OU’s Kyler Murray and Duke’s Daniel Jones  — the latter of which drew the ire of many New York Giant fans.

Obviously not thrilled about his spot, Haskins will have to prove his value immediately in the NFL. That said, this is just the first step in Haskins becoming the NFL starter we know he could be.
