Dwayne Haskins linked to Cam Newton and Mark Sanchez in wild stat

The hype surrounding Dwayne Haskins has been growing for months, and now with just over a month until 2019 Training Camp, excitement is starting to bubble to the surface.

While predictions and comparisons get made, you have to be careful and avoid getting too carried away with a mindblowing stat that paints an unproven player as a Hall of Famer. You also must pick and choose which stats to ignore, as they can often be used to paint the wrong picture.

One stat from Haskins’ time at Ohio State, however, is posing both problems in one.

Two of those three names would be great company to join — one of those names gives Washington fans pained flashbacks of the end of the 2018 season.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden has said before that in an ideal world, Haskins would have been able to lay more groundwork in college, but his level of production despite starting just 14 games is remarkable.

“You would like a guy to play more than a year to see how he’s developed over the years,” said Gruden, via NBC Sports Washington. “Haskins has a unique skill set. He’s big, strong and can really throw it.”

As with all stats, it’s important to be careful. There’s no concrete evidence that suggests Haskins will turn into a player as good as Cam Newton. Let’s also hope that he is quite a bit better than Mark Sanchez as well.
