Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins isn’t far behind Kyler Murray in the minds of oddsmakers.
Initial Offensive Rookie of the Year odds are out and according to the above, Haskins checks in at +600, just behind the first overall pick and Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.
Notably, the next closest is New England Patriots wideout N’Keal Harry, while New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is all the way down at +2000.
Of course, there isn’t a guarantee Haskins even trots out as the starter next year after a competition with Case Keenum. But if he does, he’ll get the luxury of sitting in a run-first attack thanks to a deep backfield and merely have to execute presumably in a minimal fashion through the air. Murray, on the other hand, will have to prop up one of the league’s worst rosters with only David Johnson as notable help.
But at these odds? It’s hard not to like Haskins on the chance he wins out the starting gig because the competition this year doesn’t seem to be deep.
