Dwayne Haskins is an early candidate for Rookie of the Year

He may not have been named the starter for the Washington Redksins yet, but QB Dwayne Haskins is getting mentioned in the Rookie of the Year conversation already.

We’re just under 100 days left until the NFL season officially kicks off, and Haskins has managed to make an impression on the league so far. In their annual ‘NFL Insiders Pick 2019 ROY Candidates,’ Bleacher Report mentions Haskins as being one of a handful of players with a real chance at the award.

His size should translate to the bigger and faster game right away, while his arm talent and touch will be able to help transition Haskins to the NFL game. One would also think that his adeptness for the X’s and O’s will start to prove worthy in the long haul as his playbook grows thicker.

“It feels like a mystery as to who will be the starter there, but if Haskins gets on the field he could have a Baker-like season and make a run at the award,” said an NFL scouting executive, according to Bleacher Report.

Nobody knows who will get the first snaps for the Redskins come September, but if Haskins is the beneficiary of enough of them, that ROY trophy is definitely in his reach.
