Former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins got his first live game action Thursday — sort of. He came in and got quite a few plays against the Cleveland Browns in a preseason contest. We are here to report that it wasn’t the best of days for Haskins.
Yeah there were some good moments, like an on the move throw, a couple of more on point reads and progression situations, and even a pretty good scramble or two (because, ya know — he’s a better runner than thrower). But … there were also two interceptions, and both looked to be a total miss on Haskins.

Some of this is to be expected, and I wouldn’t read too much into a preseason contest when not all the variables are in place that would be in a game during the season. Still, if anyone thought Haskins was just going to drop himself in against top-level NFL defenses and not miss a bit, then it’s wishful thinking.
He’ll improve and when he does, we can look back on this performance as a good learning experience.
