Dwayne Haskins has shown willingness to put in extra work at Redskins training camp

Dwayne Haskins is young, but he is hungry to improve and willing to put in the work.

After two days of training camp with the Washington Redskins, it’s clear that Haskins has the talent to eventually become a real asset for the team that drafted him No. 15 over in 2019, but there are still a lot of strides to be made before he takes the reigns.

In both of the first two days, Haskins has taken a multitude of reps with the offense, which have presented a mixed array of highlight type throws and inaccurate miscues that won’t fly once the regular season comes.

What’s encouraging, though, is that the rookie seems to be very level headed and self-aware — he knows that it’s not his job to lose at the start of camp; he is going to have to earn every snap he gets.

Video after practice for both of the first days has shown Haskins as the last player to leave the field, as he has stayed behind to get extra reps with sophomore running back Derrius Guice.

It would have been crazy to expect Haskins to come into the NFL and produce without skipping a beat. There is always a growth period, and young players have to work hard to get adjusted to the league as quickly as they can.

What we’ve seen so far is that Haskins is willing to put in the work, and he wants to eventually be great. That’s all you can ask at this point.
