Dwayne Haskins has impressed offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell

As the last couple of weeks of the NFL offseason finally start to pass by, it is as good of a time as ever for football fans to delve into coverage of their favorite teams and learn as much as they can about the upcoming season, as well as the new players they will be cheering for.

For the Washington Redskins, all of the hype has been surrounding rookie quarterback and the 15th overall draft pick, Dwayne Haskins. After an impressive minicamp and OTAs session, even Washington’s offensive coordinator, Kevin O’Connell, is singing high praises of the future franchise QB.

Following the spring sessions at Redskins Park, O’Connell — who was promoted to from QB coach to OC in January of this year — has been impressed with Haskins’ desire to get better and learn after every play or drill.

“Even if he makes a mistake, he’s been pretty good about not making the same mistake twice,” O’Connell said, via Redskins.com. “Which is something I’m really looking for from him.”

In addition to his thirst for knowledge on the field, Haskins has also been praised for his unique arm talent, something that has already made him a legitimate threat to Case Keenum when it comes to competing for the starting QB position.

“He’s got the ability to really stretch the field,” O’Connell said. “I mean, you guys have seen him throw the ball beyond the numbers I think pretty impressively this spring.”

As the fall moves closer and Week 1 approaches, each rep holds more weight for the rookie, as well as his veteran counterpart. If all of the talk surrounding Haskins this offseason is proved to be true, then the Redskins should have an exciting future ahead of them.
