Dwayne Haskins continues to grow at Redskins minicamp

There are several players on the Washington Redskins offense who are looking to take the reps they’re getting in minicamp this week and put them to good use.

It appears that the defense isn’t making that easy, at least to open practice sessions.

Once again on Wednesday, the offense in Washington struggled to make anything happen downfield, which could be attributed to good coverage from the secondary. According to Redksins.com, rookie QB Dwayne Haskins initially had trouble finding receivers on intermediate routes and resorted to checking down to start the practice session.

As drills continued to play out, Haskins got more comfortable and settled in, putting on display his array of talents. With 1:30 remaining in a scrimmage, Haskins led the offense down the field from his own 25-yard line, completing a 30-yard pass to Kelvin Harmon, as well as lob pass to former Ohio State teammate Terry McLaurin in the back corner of the end zone, who “mossed” cornerback Deion Harris in the process.

While much of the day was overshadowed by the drama surrounding LT Trent Williams and his absence from minicamp, there were still bright spots and positive outcomes that came out of from the day. If Haskins can continue to adapt to an NFL defense and learn how to find success down the road, the Redskins will be fine in the long run.
