DVLA issue update on processing times for driving licences and log books

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency have issued an update to paper driving licences and log book process times.

The changes come as the DVLA face a high volume of enquiries, meaning paper application waiting times are longer than usual.

Encouraging the use of online services, the DVLA explained that there are no delays with online transactions at the moment.

This means that if you have applied for your new licence online, you are likely to receive it within the normal time limits.

However, if you are using a paper application then waiting times may be longer due to the impact of Covid - reports Manchester Evening News.

Coronavirus has altered the safety measures required as well industrial action causing ongoing delays.

Delays may also be more severe for complex applications such as those needing a medical investigation as part of the licence.
