KANCHANABURI: A 42-year-old Dutch tourist was killed when his car rammed into an oil tank lorry in Tha Muang district in this central province in the early hours of Thursday.
The crash occurred at Nong Sua intersection on Saeng Chuto Road in tambon Wang Sala, said Pol Maj Vorapong Chaophae, deputy investigation chief at Tha Muang police station, who was reported at round 3am.
Police and rescue workers found an 18-wheel oil tank lorry carrying oil in the middle of the intersection. A Toyota Camry car with Bangkok licence plates with its front section badly damaged was found nearby. Pieces of broken car parts were scattered over the road.
The car driver was killed and his body trapped in the wreckage. A passport and other documents found inside the car showed he was a Dutch national, 42. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
