Dutch Uncles - In N Out: track premiere

While it’s not unheard of, it’s certainly a rarity for a modern indie band to pen a song about sexual desire. However, it is even more unusual to hear the phrase “I want in and out” used to describe those primal urges in any song, by any artist, let alone a group of pale, thin Mancunians.

Dutch Uncles are bucking the trend in their new singe In N Out, lifted from their new album, O Shudder, released on 23 February on Memphis Industries. The Manchester five piece have focused their formerly skittish time signatures into a solid funk pop groove recalling the cosmic sensuality of Prince and Tears for Fears, and featuring Duncan Wallis’s trademark falsetto which tells the tale of his rather dysfunctional desires, or as he describes, “breaking down the ‘friend zone’”.
