Dutch TV serenade ex-Rangers boss Dick Advocaat with Simply the Best during emotional farewell

Former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat delivered an emotional farewell to football management this afternoon after taking charge of his final game as a manager.

The Dutchman wrote himself into the Ibrox club's folklore after taking over from Walter Smith in 1998, winning five trophies in his first two seasons with the Gers, including a domestic treble in his first season in charge.

Advocaat came back to haunt his former employers in the 2008 UEFA Cup final, as he led Zenit St. Petersburg to a 2-0 victory over Rangers in Manchester.

But the 73-year-old has always been held in high esteem by the Rangers support, and many will be sad to see him end his career in management after stints with 14 different clubs, six national sides and over 1,100 competitive matches.

After guiding Feyenoord to a 2-0 victory over Utrecht this afternoon - a result which secures the Rotterdam side involvement in European football next season - Advocaat couldn't help but get emotional:

Advocaat also managed in the UK with Sunderland, and he helped the Black Cats somehow avoid relegation during the 2014/15 Premier League campaign.
