Dutch side 'announce Kai Havertz' in brilliant response to Leverkusen boss' transfer claim

It seems like Peter Bosz is fed up of the constant speculation around his star player Kai Havertz.

Bosz's Bayer Leverkusen team were knocked out of the Europa League by Inter Milan on Monday night thanks to a 2-1 win.

Havertz reduced the deficit after Inter steamed into a 2-0 lead, but the German outfit could not find another goal to force extra-time and were sent packing.

That could have been Havertz's final game for the club, with intense speculation that he will complete a transfer to Chelsea following Leverkusen's exit from the competition.

Negotiations have been ongoing for weeks, but Leverkusen were adamant the young prodigy would stay until the conclusion of the Europa League campaign.

Now that is over, all that is stopping him from moving to west London would be the two teams agreeing on a transfer fee, with Leverkusen holding out for £90million.

However, rather than answering questions on Havertz with a straight bat, Bosz has now taken to making jokes in discussing Havertz's future.

Or at least Blues fans will be hoping it was a joke.

When asked if the forward had played his last game for the club, Bosz said: "Yes, I can exclusively announce he'll play for Heracles Almelo."

Heracles are a Dutch Eredivisie side that Bosz managed twice in his career before Leverkusen.

And the club have got in on the joke, with a brilliant post on their official Twitter page on Tuesday morning.

The post was simple, it read: "Welkom Kai" with the eyes emoji and they used the hashtag #AnnouceHavertz in relation to the wealth of social media user who call on clubs to settle transfers.

The post also had a mocked up photo of Havertz in a Heracles kit.

Chelsea fans will be hoping to see Havertz in a Chelsea kit soon enough.
