A cannabis oil product has been withdrawn from sale in Ireland after it was found to contain the psychoactive substance Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has recalled 10ml bottles of EUPHORIA CBD Full Spectrum Oil extra strong 20%, with the best before date of 31/08/2020.
The oil was imported from the Netherlands.
Cannabidiol or CBD is a chemical derivative of the cannabis plant and can be sold legally in Ireland.
It does not give users the same high feeling as THC which is present in the plant and is illegal in Ireland.
Cannabis oil is widely used to treat conditions such as anxiety, epilepsy and chronic pain but it has not been recognised as a medicinal product.
The FSAI said: "EUPHORIA CBD Full Spectrum Oil products are being recalled due to the presence of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is an authorised substance.
"Distributors are requested to withdraw the product from the market. Retailers are requested to remove the products from sale and inform their customers."
The watchdog added that Environmental Health Officers will be required to check the product is removed from sale.
