
Dutch Ambassador Jan Waltmans has affirmed his country's continued support for Lebanon in international conferences.
Waltmans statements came during a celebration hosted by the Dutch embassy on the occasion of Holland's National Day.
The event was attended by political and security officials, in addition to a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors.
"The Netherlands stands beside Lebanon in international conferences, including the Brussels Conference for the displaced Syrians and the Cedar economic conference," Waltmans said.
He also recalled "Lebanon's achievement in the parliamentary elections nearly a year ago" and recalled "the formation of a government so that it can meet the various challenges, especially at the economic level."
"Lebanon accommodates about 420,000 Lebanese and Syrian students, and we help through educational curricula and UNICEF," he added.
The official also noted that there are current arrangements for cooperation agreements between the two countries at the agricultural level.
"The Lebanese potato has for the first time entered the markets of the European Union."
"In addition to encouraging young graduates from Lebanese universities to innovate in the field of agricultural development," Waltmans continued.
The ambassador also highlighted the tourism sector between the two countries, saying that: "Dutch Airlines Company is also making direct flights between Beirut and Amsterdam, encouraging tourists from the Netherlands to visit Lebanon."
"There is also cooperation between the Dutch and Lebanese Red Cross in many different areas."
Waltmans concluded by stressing "the depth of relations between Lebanon and the Netherlands and their advancement", hoping for "their continued success for the benefit of both countries."
