Dustin Poirier tells Conor McGregor he is "losing his mind" after latest outburst

Dustin Poirier has told Conor McGregor he "has lost his mind" after his latest Twitter outburst aimed at the American.

Poirier defeated McGregor for a second time as a result of the Irishman breaking his leg in an explosive opening round in their trilogy bout at UFC 264.

And the pair have gone back and forth ever since the fight ended with a heated verbal exchange involving 'The Diamond' and his wife.

"Ye pal live on that one way back, I will too. I bounced your head off the canvas like a basketball," McGregor said most recently.

"Your wife bro. The dm’s. Elbows into your dome. The soft part of the skull that doesn’t harden ever. From when you’re a baby. Drilled into your skull at 100mph. U slept on my belly."

Poirier initially responded "3-1" but has since issued a full response questioning if McGregor "has lost his mind".

“It doesn’t really bother me – I don’t really care,” Poirier said in an ESPN+ Q&A session. “When I think about in hindsight, like today I was thinking about it like, ‘The guy’s probably losing his mind.’ He can’t really train.

"He’s got a hurt leg that he’s trying to rehab. Rent free. I’m just living rent free (in his head).”

McGregor's post-fight antics have been criticised heavily in recent weeks, particularly his outbursts on social media that appeared to mock former opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov's late father, in addition to labelling former UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier 'a fat drunk'.

And UFC analyst Chael Sonnen has also spoken out on McGregor's recent behaviour and has admitted it is "falling into Jon Jones territory".

Will McGregor and Poirier face in a fourth fight? Comment below

"Most recent, a week ago, I was irritated that Conor (McGregor) was deleting tweets. When you start tweeting late at night, high and/or drunk and then you delete them, you have now fallen into Jon Jones territory," Sonnen revealed on his own YouTube video.

"Not about career moves, you don't want to be in Jon Jones territory, right. Conor's fallen into that territory and I as defender cannot come out and defend a guy who doesn't want to be defended."

"But I heard from Conor's people, I hear from a guy in Conor's inner circle.

"'You think Conor doesn't know that it's going to make headlines?' Part of the marketing move was then to delete it, to have something even more to discuss and I feel for it, that's what they said to me."

However, McGregor is now reportedly plotting a move back into boxing, but has been urged by Pacquiao's conditioning coach Justin Fortune to fight Logan Paul 'for the money' rather than the Filipino legend.

The 33-year-old has also revealed his plans to break a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to lap Ireland in a power boat, as he plots his future outside of fighting action.
