Dustin Poirier auctions UFC 242 fight gear – with Khabib’s shirt – for more than $60k

Dustin Poirier continues to rake in big money for his charity stemming from his UFC 242 title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Poirier (25-6 MMA, 17-5 UFC), who suffered a third-round submission loss to lightweight champion Nurmagomedov (28-0 MMA, 12-0 UFC) in their headlining bout in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, pulled in more than $60,000 from an eBay auction with gear from the fight.

An open auction wrapped Thursday morning and saw a generous buyer pay $60,200 for a package that includes Poirier’s fight-worn hand wraps, gloves and shorts. It also included his security pass for UFC 242, as well as Nurmagomedov’s walkout shirt, which he exchanged with “The Diamond” immediately after the fight.

The funds will go toward Poirier’s The Good Fight Foundation charity, which is teaming with Justin Wren’s Fight for the Forgotten to help build water wells in Uganda after a school and orphanage had its supply spoiled due to a storm.

Poirier’s initial goal for the project hoped to raise $25,000. The sum has gone well beyond that, though, and in all he’s gathered nearly $300,000 stemming from the fight.

There has been nearly $40,000 raised online through the website, and Nurmagomedov donated $100,000 (which was later matched by UFC president Dana White) after selling Poirier’s walkout shirt.

“It’s great because it’s going to help a lot of people,” Poirier recently told MMA Junkie of the success of the goal. “I’m proud of that. I appreciate them helping out the charity. It’s been growing and I’m very grateful for that.”
