Dustin Martin remains in the running for a second consecutive Brownlow Medal after avoiding suspension for making contact with an umpire during Richmond's three-goal win over Geelong at the MCG on Sunday.
Martin, who won the Brownlow last year in Richmond's premiership season, was charged with a second offence of making careless contact with umpire Jacob Mollison, but the AFL match review panel decided the incident was not worthy of a suspension.
He was instead offered a $1,500 fine if he enters an early guilty plea.
Martin was fined $1,000 earlier in the season for making careless contact with an umpire during the Tigers' round six match against Collingwood.
He is among the favourites to win the AFL's best and fairest award, especially in light of 2015 winner Nat Fyfe being ineligible after he was suspended by the AFL tribunal following an incident in round 11.
