Dustin Johnson What’s In The Bag? 2025 Update

Dustin Johnson: What's In The Bag?

Dustin Johnson joined LIV Golf in 2022, a move that sent shockwaves through the game, and if truth be told, he has struggled to consistently hit the heights we all know he is capable of. Earlier this year, he announced the end of his lengthy association with TaylorMade Golf, so let's take a closer look inside the former Master champion's bag.

Driver

Johnson has recently moved into the TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver, with a base loft of 10.5˚, but has it in the higher loft setting on his adapter, so it is likely nearer 12˚. The driver is fitted with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6-X shaft.

The Qi35 LS was one of the best drivers we hit during 2025 testing with exceptional ball speed on offer and a very low spin profile.

Fairway Woods

On a recent trip to the LIV Singapore event, we spied Johnson using a TaylorMade Qi10 three wood. The two-time Major winner likes a weaker three wood due to the immense distances that he hits the ball, and his forward shaft lean at impact, so this comes in at 16.5˚. He also has an older TaylorMade Stealth 21° seven wood, adding in a nice gap between his three wood, and he was also carrying a TaylorMade Stealth nine wood, which has approximately 24° of loft.

Irons

Johnson's three iron to pitching wedge are the P730 DJ Proto irons. These are fitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts, a shaft that he has used in his irons ever since his junior days.

The DJ Protos were part of the custom series of irons made for a number of prominent TaylorMade staff players, including Rory McIlroy and (at the time) Justin Rose. They all featured slightly altered profiles of the TaylorMade P730 iron, featuring either a unique grind or blade length profile.

Wedges

Johnson hasn't always been one for using new TaylorMade wedges when they came along, but recent pictures suggest that he does now play with TaylorMade MG4 wedges. So far as we know, he's not changed the lofts, sticking with a 52° and 60°. He has used a TaylorMade Milled Grind Hi-Toe wedge with 64° in the past, but this comes in and out of his setup.

The MG4 is a beautiful-looking wedge that spins at a consistently high level regardless of conditions. A raw face is contrasted nicely by the outer body of the wedge to boost confidence behind the ball. They are unquestionably one of the best wedges for chipping

Putter

DJ's choice of flatstick is the TaylorMade Spider Tour V putter. The manufacturer's Spiders always feature prominently in any list of the best putters, with the original Spider Tour one of the most recognisable putters in golf.

The Spider Tour putter comes into its own on off-center strikes, as it helps maintain the direction and control of the putt. This makes it one of the most forgiving putters on the market.

He has, however, been seen in recent weeks testing out the LAB Golf Oz.1 so watch this space.

Ball

Johnson has played the TaylorMade TP5x ball for a while, and we can only assume that he's now using the new 2024 model. There are genuine, tangible improvements in this ball from the previous iteration. The manufacturer has achieved an increase in speed throughout the bag while somehow providing a softer feel and maintaining spin characteristics. This is one of the best premium golf balls money can buy.

Apparel/Shoes

In 2023, Johnson was seen wearing non-adidas golf shoes for the first time in his career following his split with the brand after 15 years. Since then, he appears to have settled on FootJoy shoes, with his first non-adidas pair being the the Premiere Series Packard.

In terms of clothing, in August 2023, Johnson's LIV Golf team 4 Aces GC team announced that it had partnered with Extracurricular as its official on-course apparel sponsor.
