Dustin Johnson scoops $15m FedEx Cup prize after winning Tour Championship

Dustin Johnson has bagged the richest prize in golf by winning the Tour Championship and, with it, the FedEx Cup.

The world no1 had a five-shot lead going into Monday's final round and, despite having that advantage cut by two, looked comfortable in taking the $15million (£11.4m) overall prize.

Johnson, who missed the chance to win two years ago, said: “I wanted to be a FedEx Cup champion.

"It’s something in my career I [wanted] to be and I’m very proud of the way I played, especially over the last four tournaments."

American duo Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas tied for second place on 18 under par, while Spain’s Jon Rahm finished four strokes back.

Englishman Tyrrell Hatton continued his good run of form in 2020 in seventh place, following a closing 66.

Rory McIlroy ended the four days a further spot back - tied with Patrick Reed and Sebastian Munoz - after bogeying the par-five 18th.
