Veteran actor Dustin Hoffman is due to start filming in the UK today on his directorial debut, Quartet, based on a play by The Pianist scriptwriter Ronald Harwood.
Quartet is set in a retirement home for former musicians, and features Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins and Maggie Smith as the reunited members of a once-celebrated opera-singing quartet as they prepare to put on a concert.
Albert Finney was originally cast in Connolly's role, but had to leave the production due to illness.
