Dustin Diamond 'has terminal cancer and could have just weeks to live'

Dustin Diamond has terminal cancer and may have just weeks to live, his friend has claimed.

The former Saved By The Bell star, 44, was diagnosed with stage four cancer last month and doctors have reportedly told him he has anything from a few weeks to a year or two left.

But his friends are hoping that Dustin, who played Samuel 'Screech' Powers in the TV show, will "outlive the odds".

His close friend Dan Block told The Sun : "We do not have any specific timelines, but we know that Dustin needs a miracle to overcome the small cell carcinoma he's been diagnosed with.

"He was told weeks to 5 months is the average but a small percentage of people have lived one to two years with it being stage 4.

"We are hoping that he is one of the people to outlive the odds and that we get as much time with him as possible."

Dan said that Dustin's last wishes are to meet his idol Justin Chancellor, the bassist from heavy metal band Tool.

He also wants to visit the Star Wars exhibit at Walt Disney World, Florida.

The Mirror has contacted Dustin's rep for comment.

Last month Dustin was rushed to hospital after feeling pain all over his body, and was then diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

Dustin's rep confirmed the news in a statement, saying: "At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer.

"Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made.

"We ask everyone to respect Dustin's privacy during this difficult time.

"All positivity and prayers are appreciated."
