Dustin Colquitt can surpass Will Shields for most games played in Chiefs history

This season, the Kansas City Chiefs could have a new franchise record holder for most career games played.

The record is held by Hall of Fame right guard Will Shields, who played in 224 games for the Chiefs. He also happens to hold the record for most consecutive starts.

This season, the longest-tenured player on the Chiefs, punter Dustin Colquitt, has a chance to overtake Shields’ record.

Colquitt was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft. He has played in 222 games during his career, missing only two games, both in 2008.

I can’t think of a better person to take this honor from Shields. Colquitt has been a consummate teammate and a tremendous member of the Kansas City community. He’s beloved by his coaches and teammates. His play has been solid for many years, and he’s been a crucial part of the Chiefs’ recent success on special teams.
