Arsenal should avoid time-wasting with their efforts to sign Dusan Vlahvoic and focus their attention elsewhere after Fiorentina’s presidents' recent comments.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Serbian striker, which excited a lot of fans, due to his successful exploits in Serie A.
However, since the reported interest in the 21-year-old, the club has received setback, after setback in their pursuit to sign him.
And the most recent issue in this statement has only highlighted why Edu should focus his time and efforts on the signature of Premier League proven forward in Everton's main man, Dominic Calvert-Lewin who could slot right in.
Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso said,
There seems to be a lot of politics in the signing of the striker, which should steer Arsenal away from the transfer.
It had already been reported that the Serbian international was not attracted by the prospect of playing in north London for the Gunners.
With the president of Fiorentina also expressing his discontent at Arsenal contacting the players' agent instead of directly talking to the club, it has potentially created another barrier to completing the acquisition. Edu should shift his focus onto Calvert-Lewin which will certainly be a deal that can be completed with less hassle.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal will target the England striker as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette next summer.
Everton are currently going through a crisis on and off the pitch financially which should allow the Gunners to meet a fair price tag for the striker.
It isn’t just the complications behind the Vlahvoic deal which makes signing Calvert-Lewin more attractive, but it is also down to the history of both players.
Calvert-Lewin is a recognized Premier League striker who scores goals, so signing him will come with minimal risk.
Whereas Vlahvoic has only started to stamp his marker on the Serie A recently, and there is no guarantee that he will be able to replicate this form in the Premier League.
So, this coinciding with the Fiorentina presidents’ comments, highlights why Arsenal should instead focus on the signature of Calvert-Lewin.
