Durham lass Abby stunned Gogglebox viewers on Friday night after she questioned if David Tennant was an actual killer while watching an episode of new ITV drama for the show.
Abby and friend Georgia have become favourites with viewers since joining the hit Channel 4 programme a few series ago and are back on their sofa for the new run of episodes that kicked off last week.
Friday night's show saw the girls and other Gogglebox cast members including Pete and Sophie and Giles and Mary settled down to watch a range of programmes including Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Extinction.
But it was serial killer drama Des that left Abbie slightly baffled. The three parter gave ITV it's most watched drama of 2020 so far when it aired over consecutive nights earlier this year.
It centered on the horrific crimes of Dennis Nilsen, who was given a life sentence in 1983 after being convicted of six counts of murder and two of attempted murder.
When being questioned, Nilsen said there were "15 or 16" bodies in his North London flat after police were alerted to the fact human flesh and bones were clogging the drains at the property.
When watching Tennant's portrayal of Nilsen's chilling confession a perplexed Abby turned to Georgia and asked: "So the Doctor Who man is a murderer in real life?"
Shutting down her friends suspicions immediately, Georgia assured her he was just acting but it didn't take long for viewers to react.
One tweeted: ""So the Doctor Who man, in real life he's a murderer?"Priceless," and another posted: "well fancy that David Tenant is a mass murderer...you two are brilliant."
TV critic Toby Earle reacted: "A testament to David Tennant’s acting as someone on #Gogglebox thinks he’s an actual murderer in #Des and, playfully tweeting David Tennant's wife, another viewer joked: "A woman on gogglebox thinks your husband is a murderer in real life after watching des.I feel you should be warned for your safety."
