Durham Constabulary extends job application deadline for police constable scheme - here's how to apply

Durham Constabulary has extended its deadline for people to apply for its police constable recruitment scheme.

The force says hundreds have already applied for the programme but has decided to extend the deadline for another week to make sure they give everyone the chance to get their application in.

As one of the top-performing police forces in the country, it wants to hear from those who think they’ve got what it takes to be a Durham PC.

You must be hardworking, be able to apply common sense and relish a challenge as well as having two A Levels.

In return you’ll start with a salary of £24,780 - which climbs to £41,130 after seven years in the job – and get a degree paid for by the force in the process.

The force is also keen to hear from applicants from underrepresented and diverse groups.

Think you’ve got what it takes to join the force?

Potential new recruits have until 5pm on Friday, August 6, to submit their application.
