Duran Duran's moon landing anniversary gig with out of this world ticket prices

Duran Duran will play a gig at the Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday (July 16) to mark 50 years since the first lunar landing.

The 1980s band will have lift-off at 10.30pm on Cape Canaveral in Florida, where Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins blasted off on the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.

But tickets for the 90-minute Rocket Garden gig are also out of this world, at £250.

Keyboard player Nick Rhodes said he, John Taylor, 59, Simon Le Bon, 60, and Roger Taylor, 59, had been inspired by the mission.

Rhodes, 57, said: “The indelible impact of the moon landing was still one of our main sources of inspiration. We formed the band and released our first single, Planet Earth.

“We are truly thrilled and honoured to be a part of the 50-year celebration of the Apollo 11 mission and to be performing at the Kennedy Space Center, where the launch took place and the dream became a reality.”

Rhodes has visited Cape Canaveral before.

He said: “It is one of America’s great cultural gems – a mind-boggling, exciting, exhilarating experience. Completely awe-inspiring.”
