DUP's Gregory Campbell calls for people to wear masks after he's pictured without one

MP Gregory Campbell has called for people to wear their masks after a picture of him with his face covering “down on my chin” appeared on social media.

The East Londonderry DUP representative posted the message on his Facebook page on Thursday after a picture of him with his mask pulled down was posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

The Twitter image was accompanied by a claim that Mr Campbell had been on a flight to Belfast City Airport from Heathrow.

In his Facebook post, the MP said: “Just a reminder folks of the need to keep our face coverings on. I know it can be difficult to do it every time you’re supposed to.

"I understand a picture is on social media of me with face covering down on my chin. We all need to keep our discipline to get through the pandemic. It’s too serious for an entertainment programme.

“Keep safe, don’t let your guard down, own up when you do like I’m doing. There’s enough people letting their mask slip without me joining them.”
