Duo held in Pune for damaging 6 vehicles

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Thursday arrested two men and detained their minor accomplice on the charge of damaging six vehicles in Pimple Gurav early on Wednesday following a dispute over a cricket match.

The anti-goonda squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad police, led by assistant inspector Harish Mane, arrested Kiran Gaikwad (21) and Bhushan Surawase (23) on the basis of CCTV camera footage.

“Gaikwad and Surawase smashed the windscreens of the vehicles with some sharp weapon following a quarrel with some local youths over a cricket match,” said Mane.

The trio damaged five cars and a mini-truck parked on an open ground at Pimple Gurav. Suryabhan Chothave (40), owner of the mini-truck, had filed a complaint with the Sangvi police. “My neighbours informed me about the incident around 1am on Wednesday. I found that the windscreen and window glasses of the mini-truck’s cabin were damaged. I was not able to operate my vehicle for two days,” Chothave told TOI.
