Dunnes Stores shoppers share pics of big lines with 'hundreds of people' and 'one hour' wait time

Dunnes Stores shoppers shared photos of massive lines with 'hundreds of people' and a 'one hour' wait time on Twitter on Wednesday.

The popular Irish retailer has seen many people flock to the store in an attempt of pick up last minutes bits for their Christmas dinner, RSVP Live reports.

Christmas shoppers in various locations across Ireland say they have 'never seen anything like it' and have been queuing since the early hours of Wednesday morning, RSVP Live reports.

One Twitter user said that there were 'hundreds' of shoppers eagerly waiting to get inside a  Dunnes  store in Blanchardstown, Co.Dublin.

Meanwhile another shared that they had been lining up since 6:30 this morning to gain entry into the supermarket. Other users added that anyone heading out can expect a wait time of '45 minutes to an hour'.

Dunnes has previously warned shoppers that there would be an increase in foot traffic during this week, advising people to book a slot online to avoid disappointment.

On their website, they write:

"Save Time, Book Your Store visit at Dunnes Stores. Great news!

"We are delighted to announce the new online booking system to make shopping at Dunnes Stores more convenient for everyone is now ready!!!

"Avoid the need to queue by booking your store visit online on at:  http://dunnesstores.com/storevisit

"Then simply show your confirmation email to the person managing the queue at the store entrance to gain immediate access at your preferred time."

It’s definitely a great way to make sure you don’t get caught in any huge queues, but many were unsure if this meant we now  have  to book a slot to pop in to pick up the milk and  bread.

However, it seems the booking system is just an extra step in place for those of us who want to pop in and out in a short period of time, and you can still visit stores as normal.

A representative for  Dunnes  Stores told  RSVP Live  :

“You can visit the store as normal on  Christmas  week with no pre-booking required.”

We know there is always a mad dash to pick up some last minute bits from the supermarket in the week leading up to Christmas. It can be overwhelming but thankfully, a range of  Irish  shops have extended their opening hours to accommodate us and stop panic shopping.

No matter how organised you think you are with the Christmas shop, there is always something on the list we end up forgetting!

Keep an eye on  here  to check out how busy your local store is and everything need to know about visiting your local stores in the coming days.
