Dunluce Castle White Rocks area scene of “major incident” involving emergency services

Emergency crews have responded to a “major incident” on the North Coast today.

A rescue helicopter as well as Coastguard teams, RNLI, Ambulance Service and police were involved in the operation at cliffs in the Dunluce Castle area.

There are few details available tonight, however in a Facebook post, Coleraine Coastguard said: “Coleraine and Ballycastle Coastguard Teams were tasked at 17:07 to a major incident near Dunluce Castle and Whiterocks Beach. NIAS, Portrush RNLI, RNLI Lifeguards, Rescue Helicopter R199 and PSNI involved.”

The NIAS said that they attended the scene at 5.09pm, but that no one was taken to hospital.

It is understood four people had been at the scene.
