Dunkeld Nurseries boss branches out to new role at the FSB

A Perthshire garden business owner has been appointed to a key role with a small business lobby group.

Gillian MacEwan, who runs Dunkeld Nurseries along with her family, has been named as operations director for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

FSB wants companies which are late to pay smaller firms for work barred from taking public contracts

MacEwan has been in business in Perthshire since 1999 and an FSB member for 20 years.

She said: “Having taken on many volunteer roles at the FSB in previous years, I look forward to continuing to put my knowledge of the organisation to good use.

“As a small business owner, I know the importance of having a strong voice for the sector, which is heard in government north and south of the border. FSB’s members and staff are a formidable campaigning force and I’m proud to be on the board.”

Perth and Paisley outperform bigger cities on business performance, says report

The operations director role was contested by four candidates.

MacEwan has held branch and regional positions at FSB for many years. She became heavily involved as an FSB volunteer in 2008 in order to help rebuild her local Perth and Kinross FSB branch. Other roles have included Regional Secretary for North East Scotland and most recently as a Non Operational Director on the FSB board.
