A former Hunter firefighter has met with a high-ranking Fire and Rescue NSW representative in Sydney over concerns that prompted five of Dungog's 14 firefighters to quit.
Matt Thompson said FRNSW Executive Director People and Culture Michael Baldi listened during the meeting on Thursday afternoon and invited Mr Thompson - a former retained firefighter who was also representing his four former colleagues - to put concerns in writing.
"It was probably a somewhat intense listening experience for him," Mr Thompson said after the meeting.
The Newcastle Heraldreported on Thursday the exodus of firefighters came after an allegation of indecent assault, segregation of changing areas which left female firefighters dressing in a shed outside the station and claims of intimidation and a toxic culture.
The five firefighters quit amid a feeling that a Professional Standards investigation into a range of complaints last year failed to provide resolution.
When asked earlier this week about the issues the former firefighters had raised, a FRNSW spokesperson said in a statement the agency "does not comment on employee-related matters".
