Dungannon photographer celebrates volunteer stitchers

Volunteers who made tens of thousands of scrubs for health workers have been celebrated in a photo mosaic portrait of the group's founder.

The digital collage is made up of thousands of photos of volunteers, which form a larger picture of Clara Maybin, who started NI Scrubs.

Dungannon photographer Kasia Rogowiec heads up her local branch of NI Scrubs - which sewed more than 100,000 items of personal protective equipment for workers on the frontline of Covid-19.

Kasia, who runs Polka Dot Photo, said: "I created the image as a small gesture of thanks to all the volunteers within the NI Scrubs Group.

"I have been working tirelessly over the past two months coordinating and managing volunteers within the Mid-Ulster NI Scrubs group.

"We are very lucky to have a fabulous bunch of local volunteers and I wanted to use my own skills to say thank you and create a lasting memory for the group.

"I asked the thousands of volunteers to send me in their photographs so I could create a montage from the entire group."

Close to 10,000 stitcher's, drivers and cutters made and distributed more than 26,000 sets of scrubs.

Kasia added: "If you look closely you will see pictures of stitchers beside their sewing machines, group coordinators beside their computers, drivers at their steering wheels and of course the logos of all our business sponsors.

"It was amazing to see it all come together."
