Dungannon child death: Man and woman remanded in custody over death of Ali Jayden Doyle

A 32-year-man has been remanded into custody charged with the murder of a two-year-old girl in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

Ali Jayden Doyle died in hospital after an ambulance was called to a home at Park Avenue in Dungannon on Friday afternoon.

Darren Armstrong, 32, of Ashbeg Grove in Dungannon has been charged with murder and perverting the course of justice.

Jade Dempsey, aged 24, of Sycamore Drive in Dungannon has been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

Both appeared before Omagh Magistrates Court via videolink on Tuesday morning.

They confirmed that they understood the charges against them.

A PSNI detective sergeant connected the charges to the accused.

Armstrong was arrested hours after the youngster was taken to hospital from the house in Park Avenue on Friday night and on Sunday police also arrested Dempsey in connection with the death.

Judge Bernie Kelly refused bail and both were remanded in custody to appear before Dungannon Magistrates Court on September 1.
