Dunfermline act on fan disorder at recent Falkirk clash

Dunfermline have revealed they will not sell tickets for part of East End Park this weekend following fan unrest at their top-of-the-table clash with Falkirk.

The Pars have taken the step after the disorder was included in the reports filed by referee Euan Anderson and the SPFL match delegate.

The incidents included objects - thought to be lighters and vapes - being thrown at match officials, pitch invasions, pyrotechnics and items from the supporters’ ‘tifo’ display being launched onto the field.

The Fifers have praised the backing they received from the majority of their 7,000-strong faithful in a remarkable attendance of over 9,500 for a crucial 2-0 victory.

But they are acting in a bid to avoid any punishment from the authorities for the behaviour of some in the north west stand, which they admit is ‘bringing the club into disrepute’.

A statement read: “Everyone at Dunfermline Athletic was delighted with the backing [last] Tuesday night, with over 9,500 supporters in the stadium for our 2-0 win.

“Sadly, during the match a number of actions, noted in the referee and match delegate reports, have been highlighted, bringing the club in to disrepute.

“As a result, the club must act based on this ongoing problem before the authorities take the matter out of our own hands and impose sanctions, which none of us want.”

No tickets will be sold in the north west stand for Saturday’s visit of FC Edinburgh, although season-ticket holders will still have access to their regular seats.
