Dune: Timothee Chalamet features in first look at Denis Villeneuve remake

The first official look at forthcoming sci-fi film Dune has been released online.

Timothee Chalamet takes centre stage as protagonist Paul Atreides in the image, which was provided by Vanity Fair.

Directed by Blade Runner 2049 filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, Dune is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name.

A previous film adaptation, directed by David Lynch, was released in 1984.

The new photo shows Chalamet, whose last appearance on the big screen came in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, on Atreides’ home planet of Caladan.

“The immediately appealing thing about Paul was the fact that in a story of such detail and scale and world-building, the protagonist is on an anti-hero’s-journey of sorts,” Chalamet told Vanity Fair about his character in “Dune”.

The cast will also include Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard and Dave Bautista.

Villeneuve previously directed Arrival, Prisoners, Sicario and Enemy.

Dune will be released on 18 December 2020.
