Dundela FC announce new manager after landing "standout" candidate

Dundela have announced their new management team following the departure of Niall Currie to Portadown.

The Championship outfit confirmed on Saturday night that Paul Harbinson will replace Currie as first-team boss.

Harbinson will be assisted by Gareth Moody and Craig McLean, while Tony Miskelly will join the backroom staff as goalkeeping coach.

Paul Moore took interim charge for yesterday's 2-0 win over Institute, with Harbinson set to take charge for Tuesday's massive top-two clash with Championship leaders Loughgall.

Dundela described Harbinson as their "standout" candidate during the club's recruitment process.

The Wilgar park outfit added: "Paul brings with him an in-depth knowledge of the football, coaching, analysis and the scouting field required for the modern day Championship level of football.

"Paul retired from playing 10 years ago and started coaching locally with Ballynure OB, Paul then moved to Ballymena United U17’s for a short period before moving to manage the reserve team for seven years. Paul then took up a position as assistant manager at Ballyclare in April 2019, then took over that September as Manager.

"Paul has stated how humbled and extremely proud to be the fourth generation within his family as a member of Dundela football club."

The Duns added: "Paul has brought two assistants with him, A Licence Coach Gareth Moody and B Licence Coach Craig McLean. Tony Miskelly will also join the backroom staff as GK Coach.

"Gareth has been coaching around the Irish league for over 10 years. Having a number of seasons coaching Glebe Rangers under his belt, he came to Ballymena where he developed many current Irish league players through the U20 setup. An outstanding coach who is always trying to improve the players under his care.

"Craig McClean comes as an Irish League legend having won league and cup medals with Crusaders FC. A highly driven and motivated coach, Craig demands the highest standards of himself and the players with whom he works."
