Dundee vs Rangers set to be delayed as Ibrox club issue update to supporters

Dundee vs Rangers is set to get underway with a delayed kick-off, it has been confirmed.

Severe traffic congestion into the City of Discovery has meant that the Ibrox team bus has been held up and as a result kick-off has been moved back to 8:30pm.

A club statement read: "Supporters are advised a delay to kick-off is likely tonight as a result of severe traffic congestion in and approaching Dundee.

"Stadium turnstiles have opened as normal."

A later statement confirmed: "Tonight’s match at Dens Park will kick-off at 20:30 following severe traffic congestion in and around Dundee.

"Rangers thank our supporters for their patience, understanding and what will undoubtedly be their fantastic backing this evening."

The delayed start comes after major rain showers in Dundee cast the game into doubt due to pitch concerns.

But the Dens Park club have confirmed the game will go ahead as planned and referee Don Robertson has passed the pitch playable.

A statement earlier read: "Dundee Football Club are currently monitoring the weather conditions due to the recent heavy rainfall.

"As it currently stands the club are optimistic that this evening’s match against Rangers at The Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park will go ahead as planned.

"If there are any updates or changes regarding tonight’s match the club will update supporters through the club website and social media channels."

A Rangers statement added: "Rangers are in contact with Dundee regarding this evening’s match.

"We will update supporters as soon as possible should anything change."
