Dundee voting slip mystery as signed ballot points to intended no vote on SPFL resolution

The mystery over Dundee 's controversial non-vote on the SPFL resolution to end the lower league seasons has taken a fresh twist as a signed ballot shows they intended to vote no.

On Friday clubs voted on a proposal to end the Championship, League One and League Two with the tables as they stand, and hand the SPFL the power to do the same with the Premiership at a later date.

Each league had to approve it by 75 per cent, with the bottom two tiers voting as one bloc.

They passed the resolution, as did the Premiership where only Hearts and Rangers were opposed.

In the Championship though eight votes were needed to pass the proposals.

Partick Thistle and Inverness voted against, and it later emerged that Dundee had not cast a ballot.

But images have emerged that show Dens Park chief John Nelms did fill out and sign his ballot - and intended to vote no.

The ballot was not received by the SPFL though, and the season is now in Dundee's hands as their vote could either pass or sink the resolution.

The image gives credence to the account of Inverness' Scot Gardiner.

He said on Sportsound on Saturday: "At 16.24 we received Dundee’s voting slip signed and dated by John (Nelms). We all received that.

“At 16.39 I signed and dated our voting slip and published that to the group and I submitted that.

“We were then also sent Dundee’s ‘no’ voting slip and statement that later went out.

"At 16.52 we then got a message from Dundee’s secretary which says “DFC vote submitted”.

“That’s the facts of the matter as far as we were all concerned. Thereafter we went through the rabbit hole."
