Dundee United transfer latest as Liam Fox ready to ask the questions in search of signing spark

Liam Fox will be looking to get business done in January to help push his Dundee United side off the foot of the Premiership.

The head coach insists his struggling squad have got a lot more quality than their rotten displays have shown so far. But the new Tannadice gaffer is also looking to strengthen further when the transfer window opens with some clever signings without breaking the bank.

Fox admitted he will continue to push for signings in a bid to get United back up challenging at the right end of the league table. He said: “We have had some meetings about January and I will certainly be asking the question when the window opens. If a player comes up who will improve our team then I’ll be interested.

“Every manager always wants to bring in people to enhance the squad and make their team better, so I’m no different. Is there a major panic? No, but we’re looking and will continue to look for people right to the end of the window.

“I will always ask, whether I get it or not is a different story, but if there’s someone that I think will make us stronger then I’ll push for it.

“Then it will be up to Tony Asghar, the sporting director, and the chairman Mark Ogren to decide whether they’re right and if it’s doable for the club.

“That’s the role of sporting directors and chairmen – my job is to ask the questions.”
