Dundee United to offer Motherwell 'a couple of players' to push through Tony Watt January switch

Dundee United could be set to offer Motherwell 'a couple of players' in a bid to push through Tony Watt's move to Tannadice in January.

It is understood the Steelmen's star striker has turned down a new deal at Fir Park to sign a pre-contract with the Terrors to join them at the start of next season.

That hasn't gone down well with Motherwell fans and it would be in the best interests of all concerned to bring that move forward to this month before the transfer window slams shut on January 31.

And in a bid to push that through, Daily Record reports that United are prepared to offer a couple of players to sweeten the deal.

The clubs are expected to sit down for talks this week and the report adds: "Courts would like to see everything signed off this week so he has enough time to settle Watt into his squad in time for his team’s return to Premiership action against St Mirren on January 18."

Motherwell boss Graham Alexander confirmed that Watt - who is the club's top scorer with 10 goals - will be leaving the club on a podcast a few days ago.
