Dundee United say Rangers clash WILL go ahead as Tannadice club believe outbreak has been contained

Dundee United remain insistent their clash with Rangers will go ahead despite a Covid outbreak at the club.

Record Sport previously revealed that at least two senior players at Tannadice had returned positive LFT tests and that the club were anxiously awaiting PCR results.

This threw United 's trip to Ibrox into doubt with the sides due to face off in Glasgow this weekend.

The club have now confirmed that there have been positive tests — but they say the outbreak has been contained.

And the word from Tannadice is that the Premiership clash on Saturday WILL go ahead.

The cases came following a Christmas night out in Newcastle at the weekend but United insist no protocols were broken.

The new Omicron variant of the virus has put football n notice with United's outbreak coming after Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa have all been forced to close their training grounds in the past month.

As things stand Tam Courts ' team will travel to Glasgow as expected for Saturday's 3pm kick-off.
